Scene: Airport Departure Terminal
The bustling sounds of the airport fill the air. Travelers hurry past, announcements echo overhead. Sarah and John stand near the check-in counter, tension palpable.
Sarah: (voice trembling) I can't believe this is happening. I was so sure I packed everything.
John: (sighs, checking his watch) We don't have time for this. How could you forget your passport?
Sarah: I... I don't know. I was overwhelmed with all the preparations.
John: (frustrated) Did you at least apply for the ESTA?
Sarah: (eyes widening) I thought you were handling that.
John: (raises eyebrows) Me? You never asked me to.
Sarah: I assumed you'd take care of it, like you did last time.
John: That was five years ago, Sarah. You should've reminded me.
Sarah: (tears welling up) I can't believe our trip is ruined because of this.
John: (softens slightly) Let's see if there's anything we can do. Maybe we can reschedule.
Sarah: (sniffles) I was so looking forward to this.
John: I know. Let's talk to the airline and see what our options are.
They approach the airline counter. The agent informs them that without a passport and an approved ESTA, Sarah cannot board the flight. The next available flight is in two days.
Sarah: Two days? That's half our vacation gone.
John: It's better than nothing. Let's get you home so you can apply for the ESTA immediately.
Sarah: (nods, defeated) Okay.
They leave the airport, the excitement of the trip replaced by frustration and disappointment.
Scene: Bedroom – Early Morning
Sarah jolts awake, tears streaming down her face. She looks around, realizing she's in her bedroom. John sleeps peacefully beside her.
Sarah: (whispers to herself) It was just a dream...
She wipes her tears but feels a lingering sadness. The dream felt all too real, mirroring her daily struggles. Later that morning, as John prepares for work, Sarah sits at the kitchen table, lost in thought.
John: You okay? You look like you didn't sleep well.
Sarah: Just a bad dream.
John: Want to talk about it?
Sarah: Not really.
John: Alright. Don't forget to pay the bills today.
Sarah: (nods) I won't.
John leaves, and Sarah sighs, feeling the weight of her responsibilities. The dream was a stark reminder of her reality.
Fade out.
